Mirror is about seclusion; how limiting one’s exposure to the world gives rise to the shaowy Ego. The portal in the center is at once a portal, a mirror, and a spotlight. I am the subject, surrounded by other completed and in-process works; the implication being that the canvas itself, revealed by transparent gesso, touches the borders of the shadow behind the central figure, a parable of humility, as the edges of the painting disappear into raw canvas, raw reality.
